Construction on the Gresley Road Site in Basingstoke receives the Green Light
Courtesy of the Basingstoke Gazette, we can now confirm that planning consent has been granted to Network Rail for the construction of their proposed engineering and training centre on the Gresley Road triangle site, north of Basing View.
The project is likely to create over 150 new jobs and will encompass improvements to infrastructure in the vicinity, together with the construction of a new footbridge across the railway line to Basing View.
The new Centre will reportedly employ 580 people and can accommodate more than 200 visiting trainees. The scheme includes 216 car spaces, but employees and visitors will be encouraged to use the rail network. Completion is targeted for early in 2015 and is estimated to cost in the region of £10 million.
