Construction work is progressing at some pace on the new Village Hotel at Basing View. Completion is scheduled for Q1 in 2020.
The development has previously been reported as a £20 million project, to provide 153 bedrooms together with a leisure club, conferencing facilities and a restaurant. It is anticipated that between 100 and 150 new jobs will be created.
The facility is much needed to support the increasingly vibrant Basing View business area, and its position on a site close to The AA, Mountbatten House and Belvedere House, should serve to draw further ‘footfall’ towards the far end of Basing View.
Ground levelling works were funded by the Council in order to make the scheme financially viable, although up to £7.5 million is thought to have been secured for this purpose from the Enterprise M3 (EM3) Local Enterprise Partnership.
A new “pocket park” has also been completed in front of the hotel, provided with external benches and pod seating amongst newly planted trees and shrubs – ideal ‘relaxing’ green space for Basing View workers.
